IAGA 2024 International Case Competition Showcases Innovative Solutions for Green Aviation

On October 5th, the International Association of Green Aviation (IAGA) proudly hosted the 2024 International Case Competition, bringing together 190 participants across three continents. This event was a powerful platform for discussing green aviation and aimed at raising awareness while supporting the next generation of leaders in the industry.

The finals followed a rigorous preliminary round held on September 28 and 29, during which 11 finalists were selected to present their innovative ideas and compelling statements. Each finalist faced a panel of 20 judges drawn from both academia and industry, including representatives from Sun Yat Sen University, Civil Aviation University of China, Beijing Institute of Technology, School of Global Governance, International Civil Aviation Organization, University of Calgary, Nanjing University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Jilin University.

Corporate judges included engineers and executives from leading organizations such as CAE, Airbus, Boeing, Hua Li Technology, AVIC – The First Aircraft Institute, Volar Mobility, and Aircraft Strength Research Institute. Their insights and expertise provided a critical backdrop for the discussions that took place during the competition.

As global air travel continues to grow, the need for sustainable practices in aviation has never been more urgent. While enhanced connectivity offers many benefits, it also creates significant challenges for our climate and demands adaptation from organizations across the sector. The notion of Green Aviation (GA) has emerged as a necessary focus for transformation.

The IAGA calls for collective efforts from all stakeholders—including the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the United Nations (UN), and city governments—to work towards sustainable solutions for the aviation industry.
